  • Be a Mentee

  • Volunteer in a support position

Be an 'A'ALI'I Mentor!

`A`ALI`I Mentors come from diverse backgrounds. They are regular folks with careers in a variety of fields including trades, education, business, healthcare, law, military, nonprofits, etc., who want to make a difference in a young person's life and help with the transition to higher education and adulthood. Many mentors experienced the value of being mentored and would like to give back to the next generation. Read actual Mentor testimonials. We seek mentors who meet the following criteria:

​

  • Earned a post-secondary education degree

  • Have a strong desire to serve as a role model and positively impact a young adult's life

  • Are willing to share academic, career, and personal life experiences

  • Will participate in mentor training and debriefing sessions

  • Will commit to participating in the 10-month program (approximately 4 hours per month) consisting of :​

    • 1:1 in-person meetings with Mentees

    • Check-ins via text, phone, FaceTime, etc.

    • Group cohort meetings

  • Submit to a background check

  • Abide by `A`ALI`I Mentoring program's guidelines, policies, and procedures

Mentor
Be an 'A'ALI'I Mentee!

If you are motivated, aspire to earn your degree, and expand your career and life options, then apply to be an `A`ALI`I Mentee. Read actual Mentee testimonials. We seek Mentees who are:​

​

  • Young adults between the ages of 18 - 24 years old, who are Hawaii residents, attending school on Oahu.

  • Currently in higher education or planning to attend higher education in the following semester

  • First-Generation college students and/or First-Generation immigrants

  • Students with limited economic resources / Pell Grant eligible

  • Young adults  from under-represented communities, including  Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities

  • Students whose academic performance may not reflect their motivation or talents due to various hardships

  • Students who are open to new perspectives and willing to learn from others

  • Students willing to abide by `A`ALI`I Mentoring program's guidelines, policies, and procedures

Mentee

Be A Volunteer!
